About Me

I am a single person studio in Toronto, specifically in Mississauga, where I create each piece with meticulous care and attention to detail. To maintain the quality of my craftsmanship, I can only accept a limited number of orders at a time, but I do offer pre-order options with specified waiting times.

In 2019, my wife and I relocated from Hong Kong to Toronto. Like everyone else, we faced the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Unfortunately, I found myself in a difficult situation as the government stopped functioning, and without a work permit, I was unable to engage in any productive activities. This resulted in financial hardships. In response, I turned to leatherworking, drawing upon my skills as an architect with a keen eye for precision and detail. Since then, I have created several popular designs that you may have come across, such as the butterfly bowtie, whale pin cushion, shark coin purse, and more.

By July 2022, I had set my sights on becoming a full-time leather crafter. However, just a few months later, family issues compelled me to return to Hong Kong. These personal challenges led to depression and financial difficulties upon my return to Toronto. The sudden drop in income made it a struggle to cover rent and basic necessities, including taking care of my beloved dogs, Shiro and Boro. I even resorted to working as a delivery driver through platforms like Doordash. This situation has left me at a crossroads, questioning the uncertain future of my dream as a leather crafter.

With the support of my wife, Vicky, and friends, I managed to regain my footing and explore new directions in my journey.

I'm passionate about sharing the stories behind my designs to help you connect with the soul of each piece, moving beyond mere commercial products. I believe that the magic of design lies in the intricate details that can bring genuine laughter from the depths of one's heart.

I understand that handmade items can be perceived as expensive because they are time-intensive to create. I'm committed to designing items that are both accessible and affordable to a wider audience. On the flip side, I would like to request your support in subscribing, commenting, and sharing my YouTube channel (icon below). I hope that, in the future, this platform can help make handmade items more affordable for everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me on my journey in the world of crafting.

Warm regards, PoKit

Genuine leather is a natural material sourced from animal hides, and as such, each hide possesses its own unique characteristics. Variations in leather texture should not be viewed as flaws but rather as inherent attributes that contribute to its natural beauty and distinctiveness. Since every piece of leather is distinct, it may absorb color dyes differently during the tanning process, resulting in irregularities in color consistency and depth. Natural markings such as dents, scars, scratches, wrinkles, or blemishes are always present in genuine leather. These imperfections should not be considered defects; instead, they serve as indications of the authenticity of the leather.
