About Me

Hello! I'm Po, the maker behind The Parchment Leather, a small handmade leather studio based in Mississauga, Canada.

I grew up in Hong Kong and worked as an architect before moving to Canada in 2019. When the world slowed down during the 2020 lockdown, I began teaching myself leathercraft. My architectural background naturally found its way into my work: careful proportions, precise construction, and an obsession with small details.

What began as a shark-shaped coin purse I made for a birthday gift gradually grew into a collection of playful leather creatures. Inspired by the ocean and the animals that make us smile, I design each piece to be both useful and full of personality.

In 2022, I became a full-time leather crafter. My wife, Vicky—who was also my high-school classmate—later learned leathercraft and joined me in the workshop. Today, we're a tiny two-person team, designing, cutting, shaping, stitching, and finishing every creature by hand in our small Canadian studio.

We work mainly with full-grain leather, so every hide carries its own unique grain, markings, and character. Those natural variations, together with the subtle differences that come from making everything by hand, mean no two creatures are ever exactly alike.

Our hope is simple: to create detailed, unusual leather companions that bring a little moment of joy to everyday life. Thank you for supporting independent craftsmanship and giving our little creatures a home.

Best Fishes,

Po & Vicky
